Google reader for RSS doesn't exist anymore. We offer our condolences.
The idea of web feeds in standardised format to announce an updated blog entry, current news headlines...etc is simply splendid, and great to keep the average person up to date and on the ball with everything of interest.
RSS would be especially useful to libraries which have a wireless connection and handsets which can recieve and interpert RSS feeds- this would exemplify the meaning of Gen Y: connected to the internet 24/7.
One draw back is that special programs must be downloaded to access this service, which not too user friendly for those not forming part of the the constantly-USB-plugged Gen Y or those who are transfiguring themselves towards that direction.
Our final opinion: Groovier than Flickr, but not as good as tumblr (tumblr has .gifs, which wins any day) and pretty much the (past, present, regenerated) sister of Twitter.
Google reader is still around and going strong.
